It's been awhile! There were the holiday adventures which included lots of intimate performances. The New Year with it's new relationship. I was involved in co-producing and performing in the event "Rising Up!' as part of the V-day celebration here in Atlanta (Feb. 14th of course). There was the amazing birth of Zaire, Marquetta's (one of my soul sisters) baby. I was lucky enough to be in the delivery room when it happened and of course, I cried! And most recently I got back from a trip to LA- free ticket thanks to Delta Skymiles and free lodging thanks to friends, Candace and Christie. I got the headshots I will need to work in both the LA and Atlanta markets! YEAH!!! I'm so much more clear about the direction I'm heading now that things have shifted so dramatically in my life with Aiden's graduation. I'm so grateful for the clarity. Mostly, I continue to strive to live a more and more balanced life. Time out in the world doing doing doing and time away connecting and being. The trip to LA was actually really balanced- first few days was full of doing- getting pictures taken, talking shop, starting a relationship with a manager. The last few days were spent in more inner contemplation, sharing of ideas, thoughts, feelings, walks on the beach- communion with the dolphins!!!
This is one of the headshots I'll be using- it still needs to be re-touched- get rid of the fly away hair and maybe dim the lights in the background ??
My LA manager lives just a couple blocks from Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City which was formerly MGM where The Wizard of Oz was filmed. This is a photo of one end of the studios now. "Somewhere over the rainbow. . .dreams come true!" Oz seemed to be the theme this weekend. We walked to this really cute area of Culver City- where this old hotel stands that housed the "munchkins" when they were filming. Next to it is an old renovated movie theatre and we actually went and saw the new Oz movie there!
After 2 1/2 days in LA/Culver City, I went to Redondo Beach where Christie (who was the leader of the CIH trip to Ghana in Oct/Nov!!) lives. I went walking on the beach all three days I was there. Second day, I stopped laid down- when I got up these two dolphins where playing (I'm actually standing on a stone pier taking this picture) so close to the shore - it was so cool and I stood and watched them for a long time- couldn't pull myself away until they started to leave. They came relatively close to me a few times and I was really moved to the point of tears actually. Not exactly sure why- I just really felt connected to them somehow. As I was leaving the pier, there was a lady that told me they don't normally come that close to the beach! As I started walking along the beach they appeared to be moving in the same direction just ahead of me- further out- they both jumped completely out of the water at the beginning of my walk. It was a really beautiful experience.
My next big adventure is 5 weeks in India/Nepal/Germany and Amsterdam. I will be leaving April 2nd and will not be taking my computer so I probably won't post much until I get back!
